Mark Wahlberg’s favorite time of the year

Being a Catholic is the most important aspect of my life,” Wahlberg told the Catholic Herald. “The first thing I do when I start my day is, I get down on my hands and knees and give thanks to God. Whenever I go outside of my house, the first thing I do is stop at the church. The kids will be mad with me. ‘Daddy! It takes too long!’ I’m saying: ‘It’s only 10 minutes and this is something I really need to do.’ Because I do. If I can start my day out by saying my prayers and getting myself focused, then I know I’m doing the right thing. That 10 minutes helps me in every way throughout the day.

Why Lent

Three Things To Do This Lent That Will Actually Help Heal You

Why Lent

  • Limit Your Internet Exposure

Psychologists agree that too much internet use can create hidden stress. While there is significant debate about whether or not excessive internet use is an actual addiction, there is little debate that overuse can have hidden negative consequences such as impulsivity, narcissism, and aggression. These are just some of the personality traits that seem to be nurtured by the Internet, with possible negative offline consequences.

  • Pray More

We all know we should pray more but with our busy hectic lives prayer gets pushed to the bottom of the “to do” list. Make a commitment to stay off the internet for a few minutes and use that time for prayer. Study after study overwhelming indicates that a few minutes of prayer each day helps with both physical and mental ailments. • Make Peace With Someone

Reach out to an estranged friend, family member, or someone else you know and tell them you love them. Don’t worry about how they will respond just tell them, “thanks for listening”. Listen to this message from Msgr. Lisante and remember the words of St. Pope John Paul II “Be Not Afraid”

More Catholic Discrimination-Kamala Harris

Senators Kamala Harris of California and Mazie Hirono of Hawaii, both Democrats, displayed their open bigotry against the Catholic non-profit group, The Knights of Columbus. During a recent judicial nomination hearing for Omaha lawyer Brian C. Buescher, both senators questioned his ability to be impartial since he belonged to the Catholic organization. Buescher was nominated by President Trump to represent the District of Nebraska on the United States District Court Judge Buescher is a long time member of the Knights of Columbus.

“Sen. Harris described the Knights as “an all-male society and asked if Buescher was aware that the Knights of Columbus “opposed a woman’s right to choose” and were against “marriage equality” when he joined.”

We previously wrote about Senator Dianne Feinstein Democrat from California when she displayed her Catholic bigotry and discrimination during other Congressional hearings in the fall of 2018

25 Amazing Things Too Many Catholics Don’t Know About the Knights of Columbus (Maybe Even You!) |

The Knights of Columbus are the largest Catholic fraternal organization in the world! …who are they again? Here are 25 things every Catholic should know about this amazing organization! 1) It all started when a parish priest wanted to help Catholic families. The year was 1882 and anti-Catholic sentiment was running high.

The Politics of Destroying People of Faith

It is widely speculated that if President Trump has another nomination to the Supreme Court he will pick Amy Coney Barrett.

Amy Vivian Coney married Jesse M. Barrett, an Assistant United States Attorney for the Northern District of Indiana. They have seven children: five biological children and two children adopted from Haiti. Her youngest biological child has special needs.

Senator Dianne Feinstein displayed what many believe to be her religious bigotry when Judge Barret was nominated to the U.S. 7th Circuit Court of Appeals, Feinstein and her Democratic colleagues pelted Barrett with questions about her Catholic faith and its relation to duties as a federal judge. Her deep Roman Catholic faith and views on hot-button social issues became a pointed line of questioning.

Let us hope Dianne Feinstein is not around to attempt to destroy Judge Barrett they way she did Justice Kavanaugh

Saved By The Bell… Now Saved By Christ

“I am proud of who I am and what I am and being Catholic,” Lopez said. “I think as I’ve gotten older, I’ve just tried to build a more spiritual muscle in a business that is very unpredictable. It’s nice to have something that is consistent in our life – family and faith are that for me.”

The First Television Evangelist

While some might think of Bishop Sheen as a sort of “Catholic Billy Graham,”  it was Graham who once referred to Sheen as “the greatest communicator of the twentieth century.

Drawing 30 million viewers to his weekly show Bishop Fulton Sheen was America’s first televangelist. After appearing in Time magazine’s April 1952 cover, Sheen went on to beat out comedian Milton Berle for the 1953 Emmy for Most Outstanding Personality. emmy award

“He’s got better writers,” Berle famously responded. “Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.”

Is Jesus Taking Over The NFL ?

It seems like just yesterday that Tim Tebow was laughed out of the NFL for his willingness to share his faith with teammates and the public. Critics didn’t like Tebow kneeling during games giving thanks to Jesus. Many felt Tim should keep that to himself.

A few short years later another player Colin Kaepernick started kneeling for a different reason. Kaepernick said: “I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color.”

Today it seems more and more players are unafraid to speak out about their Christian faith.  New England Patriots player Matthew Slater, the son of NFL great Jackie Slater gave  extended remarks about his faith in Jesus Christ during a post-game interview after  Super Bowl LII

With an even bigger spotlight, Eagles head coach Doug Pederson said this in front of a National audience just after his team won the Super Bowl

Doug may not only be leading his players to Football success but it seems his whole team is turning to Christ

What Are You Planting Today ?

He planted one tree everyday and ended up with a Tropical Paradise. Proving small acts can make a big difference.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law Galatians 5:22-23

One small act each day can build a forest ….What are you planting today?

Who are you being nice to?

Who are you forgiving?

Who are you helping?

Who have you shown patience towards ?

Are you building a paradise or complaining about the things you don’t have ?

Why Jesus Heals

Thanksgiving Is An Action

In Matthew, we are told the story of one man’s faith. After healing the leper Jesus instructs him; “See that you don’t tell anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and offer the gift Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.” (The gift of Moses refers to the Lamb of God)

In Luke we see Jesus healing ten lepers:

Now on his way to Jerusalem, Jesus traveled along the border between Samaria and Galilee. As he was going into a village, ten men who had leprosy met him. They stood at a distance and called out in a loud voice, “Jesus, Master, have pity on us!”

When he saw them, he said, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went, they were cleansed.

One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. He threw himself at Jesus’ feet and thanked him—and he was a Samaritan.

Jesus asked, “Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? Has no one returned to give praise to God except this foreigner?” Then he said to him, “Rise and go; your faith has made you well.”

-Luke 17:11-19

Lepers were the isolated outcasts of their day. They had an ugly deadly disease that ate away at their bodies.

Note that the lepers cried out to the Lord from afar. They were not intimate with him. Nevertheless, Jesus heard their petition and asked them to take a step of faith.

They were all made clean.

I certainly believe that all ten felt the emotion of gratitude. You cannot have something like leprosy lifted without feeling great exaltation But the only one continued inaction. The only one returned to offer thanks. And the response of the Giver was, “Were not TEN cleansed? Where are the other nine?”

Thanksgiving is not a mere feeling. Real Thanksgiving is an action.
