Why Mary mother of JesusWhy Mary?

Why Mary is essential to Christianity can be a long conversation. But without Mary, there would be no Christ. Through the ages, more poems, hymns, statues, icons, paintings, treatises, and sermons have been produced on one woman than any other in all human history. Many protestants do not even speak of Mary and have contempt for Christians who do. For some reason, they limit God's attributes and think she interferes with the worship of Jesus. Nothing can get in the way of true devotion to Christ.

The fact is to worship Jesus is to honor his mother. I love my buddy Tim and respect and honor his mother. Although discussion on Mary can be long and complicated, Christians have always held a special in their hearts for Mary.

The Bible Teaches Devotion to Mary

Ironically, protestants, on the one hand, claim that they only follow what is in the Bible (Sola Scriptura). Click here to read why this makes no sense and not the oral traditions of men. Yet, in the Gospel of Luke, verses 25 to 55, we can clearly see the role God had for Mary in man's redemption. It is unfathomable how modern-day self-proclaimed Christian ignores Mary when from the beginning, Mary was revered.

Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. — Luke 1:30

Many anti-Catholics think that Catholics worship Mary. We do not worship her; we venerate and honor her; after all, she is the Mother God. She is the model of perfect love and obedience to Christ. God preserved Mary from sin, and she conceived our Lord by the power of the Holy Spirit, bringing Christ into our world. She is the first to carry the Gospel.

We do not pray to Mary the same way we pray to God; we ask her to pray for us and bring our prayers to her Son Jesus, our One Mediator. Nobody sees a child's life the way that child's mother does—not even the father. This is Mary's perspective of Jesus' life. Christian devotion to Mary is nothing more than a logical extension of a child's affection for her mother.

Satan Hates Mary

Martin Luther Why MaryProtestants don't like to talk about Mary because the devil hates her; he despises that a lowly handmaiden brought about his ultimate demise. So he will do everything he can to keep you away from her. Protestantism, by its very nature, rejects the deposit of faith Christ left to his apostles.

Ironically Martin Luther, who revolted from the original Christian church, remained quite devoted to Our Lady and retained most of the traditional Marian doctrines held then and now by the Catholic Church.

The devil also hates all the sacraments Christ left us with, so he creates division, most of which is man's pride in thinking he is superior to the Church that Christ left. Each builds his own church, sprinkling in a little Jesus talk here and there to convince himself he is saved while living on his terms. Today there are tens of thousands of supposed Christian churches.

On the other hand, Mary was fully obedient to God even though she did not understand what was going on. she said yes to God, continuing in the Gospel of Luke.

But Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I have no relations with a man?” — Luke 1:34

Mary said, “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word.” Then the angel departed from her. Luke 1:38

Lucifer was originally God's finest achievement. He was more beautiful and powerful than all the other creatures God had made. And as we all know, it went to his head. He was so gorgeous, so mighty that he thought he could be better than God. The defining marks of Satan are pride and envy of the Almighty. Satan hates you too, and his envy seeks to destroy God's creation, drag it to hell, and join him in the eternal flames.
